PC Sharok : Detonator 43.35 upgrade

3DMark 2001 SE

Well, take a look first. The full chart of results is as follows :

Game Scores (fps):
Scene Low Detail High Detail
Car Chase 163.2 57.5
Dragothic 209.0 113.3
Lobby 144.8 64.9
Nature 68.0

Technical Details :
Fill Rate Single Texturing Multi-Texturing
MTexels/s 943.4 2112.5

High-Polygon Count 1 Light 8 Lights
MTriangles/s 52.0 11.5

Bump Mapping Environment DOT3
FPS 171.3 137.2

Vertex Shader Speed 90.9 FPS
Pixel Shader Speed 113.8 FPS
Point Sprites Speed 28.6 MSprites/s

The end result is a 3DMark score of 11 242 points. That is a fat 8% better. What is curious is the discrepancy in the different areas. In Car Chase, the low detail score has a boost of 4.3fps, but the high detail score drops 1.4 frames. Dragothic has an impressive 30fps increase in LD, and a 7.7 increase in HD. Lobby drops on both types, but Nature gets a 54.5% increase. Finally, I get over 60fps in Nature.

Fill rates are up too, and HPC is looking better, as is Bump Mapping. Vertex Shader speed has actually dropped 4.1 frames, and Pixel Shader speed is up by 0.8fps.

This whole thing looks like a mixed bag of results, but one thing is sure : Unreal II has finally stopped chopping frames every time I simply turn right or left. I'm still 3000 points away from THG scores, but I'll get there.
