Pushing a good increase in performance over the 7500, the 8500 signals nVidia that the GeForce 3 is not where to start getting sleepy. Neck to neck, the two contenders are giving a good fight.

It is useful noting that nVidia countered the 8500 by putting out the GF3 Ti500, a souped-up GF3 on Mhz-steroids, and pulled in front again. But ATI is relentless in its pursuit of the crown, and nVidia is starting to adopt a few questionable market tactics.
