Having got my hands on the latest nVidia driver version, I installed it and ran the benchmarks to see what happened. Well, another great success for software upgrades, I must say.
Configuration and settings are all the same as the previous set, but I only did the Quake bench at 1280x1024, since it was pretty obvious that results would be up for 1024x768.
Demo file | FPS at 1280x1024 |
---|---|
Demo001 | 176.6 |
DEMO002 | 187.2 |
Tier1_1 | 221.8 |
Tier1_2 | 222.5 |
Tier1_3 | 204.8 |
Tier1_4 | 212.8 |
Tier3_1 | 209.5 |
Tier3_3 | 185.9 |
Tier3_4 | 205.5 |
Real3 | 123.0 |
Silver1 | 165.3 |
CRUSHER | 96.5 |
TORTURE1 | 81.0 |
AVERAGE | 176.3 |
And I finally found the QUAVER demo, which gives 173.4 at this resolution.
Comments ? Well, previous average at this resolution was 173.6, so we have a 1.5% increase in performance. Nothing to write home about, but better than nothing. That said, if Quake scores are not incredible, 3DMark scores are something else entirely.
