NV 10 - October 1999
The beginning of glory for nvidia. The Graphics Processor Unit - GPU - made a big splash in the 3D video arena. Boasting yet unknown technologies and unbelievable transistor counts, nvidia's new baby took the press by the throat and never let go. Users might have been a tad less satisfied though, the GeForce required powerful power units that off-the-shelf supermarket computers did not have. Thus a number of PCs that failed after a short time, or did not even start with the card fit in its AGP slot. Aside from those issues, the graphics performance was most impressive. nvidia became hip and the hype around its products started drowning out all other competitors.
